ARAOMPA with the city of Viry-Châtillon celebrate this year the century of Port-Aviation considerate as the 1st organized airfield in the world, 1st airport from the city of Paris, ancestor of Orly Airport.

From his inauguration, the 23th of mai 1909, to his close date in 1919, renowned names of aviation begin to fly here, flying school trains a lot of pilots, especialy during the war of 1914-1918 as the field was requisitionned by the french army, the portuguese then belgian army.

Due to the importance of this airfield at the beginning of the aviation story, the Ministère de la Culture decided to set Port-Aviation into the list of national celebrations, because 2009 was rich in aeronautical events and many events occuring during this year.
